Orientation, testing, and scheduling for new students.

August 24, Monday

Classes begin for all students.

September 7, Monday

Labor day.  School is closed for holiday.

October 2, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

October 12, Monday

Columbus Day.  School is closed for holiday.

October 16, Friday

First quarter ends.

October 19, Monday

Second quarter begins.  Report cards are distributed on Oct.23.

November 6, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

November 11, Wednesday

Veterans' Day.  School is closed for holiday.

November  26– 27, Thursday - Friday

Thanksgiving Day.  School is closed for holiday.

December 4, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

December 22, Tuesday

Second quarter ends.  Last day of the fall semester.
Depending on weather report; school trip possible either on
Monday, December 21 or on Tuesday, December 22.

December 23, 2009 – January 4, 2010

Break for the Holidays.  No school from Wednesday, December 23 through Monday, January 4, 2010. report cards distributed.

The spring semester and third quarter begin.

January 8, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

January 18, Monday

Martin Luther King Day.   A Day On, not a Day Off: BIA student community service projects during the day.

February 5, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

February 15, Monday

No school on Presidents' Day.  Possibility of no classes on Tuesday, February 16, depending on number of snow days required.

March 5, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

March 12, Friday

Third quarter ends.

March 15, Monday

Fourth quarter begins.  Report cards are distributed on March 19.

March 15 – March 19

Seminar week.  Five days of special courses and activities.

April 2, Friday

Easter Weekend.  School is closed on the Friday before Easter.

April 9, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

April 12 – 16, Monday - Friday

Spring Break. No school.

May 7, Friday

Professional development for teachers:  ½ day of classes.

May 31, Monday

Memorial Day.  School is closed for the holiday.

June 1 and June 2
June 3, Thursday

School Trips  on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On June 3, sports, activities and clean-up.

June 4, Friday

The last day of school.  Graduation Ceremony during the evening.

Distribution of report cards.

 

    

       Note:

       Because BIA students may attend UB classes, out academic schedule follows the UB schedule. This should work
       out to 180 days of class time. There are Community service days that are academic days where special projects
       that serve the community are done. These days involve community service and integrated academics. Film and
       video service ;projects can be carried out during these longer time blocks as well.
       PE is required of all students and the ½ day winter Fridays allow for advanced skiing and winter sports training.
