BIA is accredited by the nation’s oldest accrediting body, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Founded in 1885, NEASC recognizes more than 2,000 American public and independent schools, colleges and universities as well international schools in more than 60 nations worldwide. BIA is approved to operate, including dormitories, by the Department of Education of the State of Connecticut, and authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. As such, BIA can issue I-20 forms, which enable international students to obtain F-1 student visas.

The BIA Admissions Committee reviews a variety of information in an effort to assess the preparedness of each applicant to have a successful high school experience at BIA. Prior school transcripts, a parent statement, a student questionnaire and writing sample, and recommendations are all part of criteria upon which acceptance is based.
